As a piano teacher, I believe that one of my primary goals is to impart a love and appreciation of music and the art of music-making to my students. I strive to help them to produce a beautiful musical sound, and to express themselves musically. I encourage enjoyment of the learning process as well. I believe that both teaching and learning to play the piano, no matter the skill level, can be emotionally satisfying and can enable intellectual, physical and spiritual growth.

With use of traditional piano methods and piano literature, the emphasis of the curriculum is on achieving the development of strong reading and playing skills. Technical abilities will be attained primarily through the repertoire; but students will also learn to play scales, arpeggios, and chord progressions, etc-. Curriculum will be enhanced with music theory, rhythmic activities, aural training; emphasis will be placed on developing functional skills such as sight-reading, improvisation, harmonization, and making music with others (duets, Rhythm Cups, etc). Students in elementary through high school grades will be given opportunities to perform in various recitals and events during the school year, in-studio and/or through Denton Music Teacher's Association.

It is important to me that my students feel successful and confident in their progress, and that they develop usable skills necessary to learn and make beautiful, satisfying music throughout their lives.

It’s not

too late

to learn

to play!
